The Second Home

In exploring the theme of homesickness, I delved into the concept of the First Home as an irreplaceable anchor for many. Reflecting on my nomadic upbringing in five different countries, I embarked on a journey to create a Second Home that could alleviate the longing for separation from the First Home. Through an introspective photo album, my goal wasn’t only to document my odyssey but to inspire viewers to contemplate and revitalize their notions of a Second Home.
Drawing on workshop insights that identified the bed as a pivotal space of comfort and nostalgia, I designed a photo album transformed into an openable blanket, intertwining universal sentiments of homey warmth. This transformative piece encapsulates the essence of ‘comfort,’ evoking the aroma of home.
Through this project, I found the courage to share personal narratives, realizing that subjective stories can serve as potent bridges for conveying messages and fostering audience engagement. I aspire for the interweaving of memories in this publication to further encourage the audience to reflect and embark on their journey to a second home.
