CONCENTRATION
Mixed MediaConcentration focuses on the everyday objects that we often take for granted. I’ve been privileged to visit Cambodia and serve the impoverished people. I was mesmerized by the fact that they were living in ecstatic pleasure in the midst of an old, shabby place. A place with no electricity, clean dishes, or common necessities that are used today. This changed my perspective on ordinary objects and inspired me to communicate a theme of appreciating the necessity of ordinary objects.
I put details and colors to show two perspectives; the use of vivid color shows the true value of the objects, while black and white are used to express the point of view of people who don’t see their significance. The consistent use of aluminum foil in the pieces that only depict the objects also helps to hint at the importance of the objects through their shininess.
